A Partner of the Maison

Tomás Reinhardt

Partner, Acquisitions & Provenance

Tomás Reinhardt directs the Maison's acquisitions practice. He is German-Argentine, born in Buenos Aires to a Hamburg father and an Argentine mother, and was educated in Hamburg, in Geneva, and at the Institut National de Gemmologie in Paris. He spent eleven years as a watch specialist at Sotheby's Geneva — concluding as a senior member of the department — before establishing a private dealership in vintage Patek Philippe and Ferrari, which he conducted from 2015 until joining the Maison in 2019.

He keeps a small office in the rue du Rhône and a residence in the Engadine. He travels often and for shorter periods than colleagues find prudent.

His written work, which appears principally in the Maison's Journal, concerns provenance — the long, slow, and often inconvenient discipline of confirming what an object has been before it becomes what it is. He collects, in private, only one watch and one car, and has resisted the temptation, several times, to acquire a second of either.
